Namur

A Heritage of Tradition and Innovation
Founded in 1863 by Nicolas Namur after completing his pastry training in Metz, Paris, and California, Maison Namur has embodied passion and artisanal expertise for six generations. With its first workshop established in Luxembourg, the company quickly became a cherished gourmet institution at the heart of the country.

Growth Across Generations
Over the decades, Namur has flourished thanks to the dedication of the family. Georges Namur, followed by Georges Paquet, and later Maximilien and Jean-Paul Nickels, each contributed to the company’s growth, opening new stores across Luxembourg. Since last year, Anne Nickels has taken the reins, ensuring that the spirit of Maison Namur continues.

Uncompromising Quality
At Namur, every ingredient is chosen with care: Sicilian almonds, Piedmont hazelnuts, Spanish oranges… Namur produces its own semi-finished products—from puff pastry to praline and marzipan. The chocolates, crafted in small batches, and the pastries, freshly made each day, reflect an artisanal skill honed to perfection.

Our Values

  • Epicureanism: The pleasure of tasting carefully crafted products is central to our mission, from selecting premium ingredients to creating every recipe.
  • Heritage and Transmission: Established in 1863, Maison Namur continues a legacy of craftsmanship that is woven into Luxembourg’s history, passed down passionately across generations.
  • Authenticity: True to our heritage, we uphold sincerity in our approach—our few words are backed by an unwavering commitment to quality and transparency in both our work and products.
  • Mastery: The precision of our recipes and attention to every detail reflect our dedication to offering products of exceptional quality, honoring artisanal methods.

Today
Namur continues to focus on the Luxembourg market, maintaining its production workshop in Hamm, where tradition meets modernity to deliver unique products made with a deep respect for time-honored expertise.

About Hamm district

Village charm and an industrial past

On a plateau in the east of the capital lies the district of Hamm. A surprisingly large district for its little over 1,500 inhabitants.

Today’s Hamm started out small. Back in 1796, there were just 90 people living here. Although tiny in terms of population, Hamm – shown on maps at the time as Hamme – had long been of strategic importance. In Roman times, there was a guardhouse here that controlled access to the Alzette valley. The French troops of King Louis XIV also recognised the strategic importance of Hamm, setting up their military camp outside the city walls here in 1684, with the intention of conquering the fortress and Luxembourg as the Gibraltar of the North. Hamm is first mentioned in a deed of sale from 1243.
