Éimaischen
Traditional Emmaus festival
Like every year, the Easter festivities herald the arrival of the "Éimaischen" crafts market, one of the most emblematic events in Luxembourg tradition, in existence since at least 1827 and focusing on pottery and ceramics. These include the famous "Péckvillercher", small bird-shaped clay whistles, sold exclusively at the Éimaischen. Their appearance varies from year to year, making them coveted collector's items, around which collectors flock as early as dawn. Their sounds, along with folk entertainment and food stalls, add to the special atmosphere of this unique market.
The craft market, organized by the Service Espace public, fêtes et marchés de la Ville de Luxembourg in partnership with the Comité Alstad, will be held on Easter Monday, in the historic lanes of the old town, including Marché-aux-Poissons, rue du Marché-aux-Herbes, rue de l'Eau, rue de la Reine, rue de la Boucherie, rue du Rost, and rue Sigefroi.
