Closing exhibition of the school residency
VENUE: Casino Display, 1, rue de la Loge, Luxembourg
In September 2023, artist Emma Dupré began a residency at the Lycée des Arts et Métiers, seeking to establish new ways of paying attention to the non-humans with whom we share our daily lives without even noticing them.
The project was based on the collaboration between the artist and the students through a series of workshops in the classroom. Exploring the mundane through artistic creation, or fine-tuning our sense of observation, were just some of the themes on which the exchanges centred. Theses were soon followed by rush exchanges, script writing and low-cost alternative creation.
The exhibition at Casino Display is the culmination of these richly shared work sessions.
Emma Dupré is a French visual artist born in Paris in 1998. After training in the sciences, she studied applied art at the École Estienne in Paris and then visual arts at the Haute École des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg. There she learned glassblowing, collective creation and video, and passed her Master's degree in 2021. She then joined the École Offshore post-master's programme in arts research. She currently lives and works in Nantes, with various collective projects in Luxembourg, the Drôme, Strasbourg and Paris.
Her preferred media are video, glass and the organisation of convivial, offbeat events that take into account the context in which they are held and the artists with whom she collaborates. Her work has been shown at La Chaufferie (Strasbourg), the Design Biennial (Saint-Etienne), Musée Lalique (Wingen-sur-Moder), Musée de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame (Strasbourg), Grand Palais (Paris), Paradise (Nantes), the MilleFeuilles workshops (Nantes) and Casino Display (Luxembourg).
