Maison Steffen
Maison Steffen: Quality at Home
It all began in 1989 in Steinfort, a small village in Luxembourg’s Capellen canton to the west. Frank Steffen, a master butcher by trade, founded Maison Steffen here—a butcher shop celebrating the culture of quality meat. His goal was to offer customers healthy, delicious products sourced from rigorously selected regional farms.
Since then, Maison Steffen has come a long way. Due to the success of the original location, the brand expanded with new shops in Dudelange, then in Cents in 2008, followed by Pétange, Esch-sur-Alzette, and most recently, Frisange.
About Cents district
Beautiful views and a long history
Up until the 1960s, the district of Cents, high up on a long plateau in the north-east of the capital, was still very much a rural idyll. The origin of the name “Cents” (Luxembourgish: Zens) can probably be traced back to a tax (census in Latin) which tenants of Fetschenhaff farm and its fields had to pay to Altmünster Abbey. Aside from this important farm and the Convent of the Carmelite Nuns, founded in 1937, for a long time Cents was simply fields, meadows and woods.
