Concert: Youth Orchestra of The Netherlands

The Dutch Youth Orchestra (Jeugdorkest Nederland / JON) is visiting Luxembourg on its annual summer tour of Europe. The best talents aged 14 to 21 from all over the Netherlands come together in this symphony orchestra to work at the highest level on challenging works from the large orchestral repertoire. The orchestra is part of the talent development programme of the National Youth Orchestras of the Netherlands NJON (www.njon.nl).

Under the inspiring direction of conductor Jurjen Hempel, the orchestra members use all their talent and youthful energy to bring out the emotion, humour and drama in Dmitri Shostakovich's challenging 5th Symphony. The virtuoso Dutch violinist Rosanne Philippens shines in Maurice Ravel's dynamic Tzigane and Ernest Chausson's melancholy poem "Poème".

Admission to this concert is free. Would you like to show your appreciation for these young musicians? You can make a voluntary donation afterwards.
