Temporary exhibitions :
Tönende Tiere I 12.10.2024 – 05.01.2025
Artist Matthias Garff has created lifelike sculptures of indigenous animals using everyday objects. They are brought to life by the compositions of techno DJ, author, and biologist Dominik Eulberg. For this work, Eulberg has composed audio tracks based on the songs and cries of animals from our local fauna. The public will discover some fifty sounds of wild and domestic animals reinterpreted as electronic music. The exhibition raises the question: how can we preserve and protect something we no longer recognise?
Luxembourg on the Rocks I 11.10.2024 – 16.03.2025
The Luxembourg on the Rocks exhibition explores the importance of stone in the history and development of Luxembourg. A multisensory experience that invites you to touch, listen and discover how rocks influence the country’s architecture, wines, and biodiversity!
About Grund district
Luxembourg’s unforgettable fairy tale district
With historical references dating back to the 14th century, this picturesque and idyllic district is one of Luxembourg’s oldest. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994, it is located in the lower part of the city right in the heart of the old fortress, which was built over nine centuries, only to be demolished in 1867 as part of the Treaty of London. Described by many as “a village within a city”, the Grund has a much calmer and quieter feeling than the nearby city centre, which can be easily accessed on foot or by public lift. Its location, deep in a valley and surrounded by the beautiful Alzette River, gives it a unique and memorable character.
